Located throughout the Pacific Northwest, the West Coast League is one of the premier collegiate summer leagues in the North America and is known as the “Diamond Standard” of summer collegiate baseball.

The markets are located throughout Oregon, Washington, Alberta and British Columbia and feature intimate ballparks and great crowds, and showcase players from the top College and University programs in Canada and the United States.

Mission Statement: The West Coast League is a summer wood bat league for college-eligible student-athletes, based in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. It emphasizes accelerating prospect development, increasing player exposure, and bettering its member communities. This is established through providing quality leadership, best-in-class competition, and affordable entertainment in an environment that fosters organization, professionalism, and competition.

The 12-team League has developed a solid reputation since its inception in 2005. It built on that with the 2013 expansion to Victoria, BC, the 2014 expansion into Yakima, WA, and the addition of franchises in Port Angeles, Washington, Portland Oregon and Ridgefield, Washington in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively. Further expansion, possibly including more teams in Canada, is on the horizon.

Teams in the league — Victoria HarbourCats and Kelowna Falcons in BC; the Bend Elks, Corvallis Knights and Portland Pickles in Oregon; and in Washington, the Yakima Valley Pippins, Port Angeles Lefties, Walla Walla Sweets, Bellingham Bells, Cowlitz Black Bears, Ridgefield Raptors and Wenatchee AppleSox.

The West Coast League and the HarbourCats feature MLB prospects from many of the top college baseball programs in North America. All WCL teams recruit players nationwide and are committed to developing aspiring pros. Many of our players have already been drafted, but chose to stay in school and re-enter the draft when they graduate.

No other college summer league has ever had as many drafted student-athletes and alumni reaching the big leagues so early in its history. A record fifty-five former or current West Coast League players were selected in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft, with that number rising to 57 in 2013.

Alumni of the league include Jacoby Ellsbury (Boston Red Sox), Nyjer Morgan (Washington Nationals), and Jeff Francis (Colorado Rockies).

At a young age, the West Coast League has truly become the Diamond Standard of summer collegiate baseball.
