To leave this 2020 year behind, we all need to come together — even rivals on the ball diamond.

Partnering with Arbutus RV, which has locations in the Victoria and Nanaimo areas, the two WCL teams on Vancouver Island are working together on NEW YEAR’S DAY (Friday, Jan. 1) to gather food donations with the inaugural FILL THE RV event.

From noon-4pm, the Victoria HarbourCats and Nanaimo NightOwls baseball clubs are accepting donations — contactless, following all health rules.

In Victoria, for Mustard Seed — at Save On Foods Saanich/Uptown, 3150 Blanshard, noon-4pm.

In Nanaimo, for Loaves and Fishes — at Third Street Ballparks parking lot, a block west of Serauxmen Stadium, noon-4pm, with support from Panago on Fourth, Save On Foods, Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce and the City of Nanaimo, along with local youth and college baseball programs.

“Let’s FILL THE RV in both cities, to help those who need it most, as we find our way out of this pandemic,” said Jim Swanson, Managing Partner and GM of both teams at this time.

In Nanaimo, citizens are suggested to look to the skies at 6pm on Jan. 1, over Serauxmen Stadium, as 2021 is ushered in, in a special way. More details on that to come in the days and hours leading up to the first day of a new year.
